As the president of FLO TV, Bill Stone leverages his experience in successfully elevating wireless brands to drive FLO TV's category leadership. With more than fifteen years in the industry and an unrivaled understanding of the global wireless ecosystem, Stone fosters FLO TV's momentum through a dedication to driving mobile TV consumption and providing consumers the very best mobile entertainment experience available.
Prior to joining FLO TV, Stone was CEO of Handango, a global retailer of smartphone applications across all major operating systems. Under his leadership, Handango expanded its distribution channels through new partnerships with wireless providers, device makers and for the first time ever, big box retailers. Stone solidified Handango's position in the Application Store marketplace by drawing upon his mobile content expertise to establish the company as an invaluable partner to many of the leaders in the wireless space including launching the first paid application store for Android.
Before joining Handango, Stone was the president of Amp'd Mobile, the first integrated mobile entertainment company for youth, young professionals and early adopters. Responsible for the strategy, planning, business development and the company's overseas expansion, he helped deliver industry–leading metrics, as well as numerous "firsts" in the mobile entertainment space.
In the years leading up to his time with Amp'd, Stone was a vice president at Verizon Wireless, where he was responsible for strategy, planning, content, e-commerce, and a variety of marketing functions. Stone also served in a variety of leadership roles with Vodafone and AirTouch including being the chief marketing officer for Vodafone Australia and chief marketing officer and Board Member of J-Phone in Tokyo (currently SoftbankMobile).
Stone holds a bachelor's degree in economics and political science and an MBA in international management and finance from Rice University. Bill and his wife, Audrey currently reside in San Diego with their three children, Will, Andrea, and Alexandra.
